Fine ceramics are also called high-performance ceramics and high-tech ceramics. According to its use, it can be divided into two major categories: engineering ceramics and functional ceramics. The former mainly utilizes their high hardness, high melting point, wear resistance and corrosion resistance, also known as structural ceramics; the latter mainly utilizes their physical properties such as light, sound, electricity, heat and magnetism, also known as electronic ceramics. According to the chemical composition, it can be divided into oxides and non-oxides.
The former includes various oxides and oxyacid salts; the latter includes nitrides, carbides, borides, and the like. The former category is generally used for functional ceramics, and the latter category is used for engineering ceramics. Some varieties are used in the manufacture of engine parts, automotive parts, televisions, hair dryers, fire alarms, high temperature extrusion dies, and the like. It can also be used to manufacture high temperature resistant nozzles for defense needs.
