With the recovery of Mexico's textile industry, the country's textile production index reached 84.1 in May this year, an increase of 9.6% year-on-year, of which gauze production index rose 11.3% year-on-year, clothing production index rose 12.9% year-on-year.
Affected by this, Mexico's cotton imports reached 59 million U.S. dollars in June this year, an increase of 59.3% year-on-year, and increased for the seventh consecutive month, the highest level since July 2006.
However, due to the obvious recovery of Mexico's textile production in the second half of 2009, the year-on-year increase in the second half of this year may be relatively small. From this perspective, the cotton imports this year are still expected to maintain year-on-year growth, but the increase will be relatively limited.
