Application of welding wire for welding welding mold of WS welding machine

The WS welder concentrates the energy of the tungsten wire on a very small (0.2mm to 2.0mm) wire and melts the wire and the die base material in an instant (0.5ms to 20ms). After the melt is cooled, if the metallographic structure of the welded part is consistent with the mold base material, the welding quality can be ensured; if it is inconsistent, there may be trachoma, cracks, or poor adhesion and falling off.

Welding consumables affect welding quality:

1. If the same metal strip as the mold base material is selected as the mold wire, the metallurgical structure after the metal is melted will be inconsistent with the mold base material, which will affect the welding quality.

2. If stainless steel wire is selected, or the material close to stainless steel is used as the mold wire, the above problems will also occur, and the hardness after welding cannot be guaranteed. Because stainless steel has less carbon content and lower hardness, the welded position after welding is prone to wear.

3. Imported welding wire in Germany, Japan and Taiwan has different models for different mold materials. However, the WS welder is different from the argon arc welding. Similar to the laser welding, it is a kind of welding that concentrates the energy. The selection of the welding wire type is not very strict, as long as the welding and the base material are welded and the hardness is consistent. A good welding quality can be achieved.

Welding wire:

Since the mold wire is an alloy material, not a stainless steel wire, it may rust if it is not well preserved. Some mold wires are coated with a thin layer of anti-rust material on the surface, but the plated anti-rust layer should not be too thick, otherwise it will affect the welding quality, because the anti-rust layer is equivalent to impurities in the welding process. In particular, the welding wire of the welding mirror mold is less suitable for plating the rustproof layer.

The wire should be packed in a sealed bag with moisture-proof beads inside and stored in a dry environment. If placed in a long-term air-conditioned environment, it can be stored for six months to one year without rusting.

If the wire is rusted, use sandpaper to polish the surface rust layer and use it without affecting the quality of the weld.

The more commonly used imported wire types are 8407, H13, M2, SKD-11, SKD-61 and NAK-80. Commonly used wires with diameters of 0.2 mm, 0.3 mm, 0.4 mm, 0.6 mm, 0.8 mm and 1.0 mm.

The choice of wire type is mainly based on the purpose and hardness of the mold. However, due to the different parts and sizes of the mold, the parameters of the WS welder are different. Therefore, when selecting the wire type, the wire use instructions should be used as a reference, depending on the parameters and operating habits of the WS welder.
