Low-carbon economy does not exclude the stone industry
In many people's view, the stone industry is difficult to associate with the "low-carbon economy." Recently, many localities have shut down some stone processing companies based on the consideration of developing a low-carbon economy. As the operator of the largest stone specialty market in Central China, how do you view this phenomenon?
Wang Xiubing: Advocating a low-carbon economy, the essence of which is to require new changes in the supporting factors of economic growth, that is, relying on resource elements to focus on investment, relying on technology and brand value-added benefits of transformation; by earning low through processing and production links Thin profits, to expand the industrial chain and supporting systems, and enhance core competitiveness. This is actually an industrial upgrading process. It does not mean that certain industries are completely excluded.
In fact, every industry has its own low carbon content. As a typical traditional industry, stone has indeed caused a certain degree of damage to the ecological environment during the initial development. However, the modern stone industry is basically a platform sawing method. This kind of mining method is incomparable to other types of mines in terms of energy consumption, safety, and environmental protection.
Moreover, unlike cement, glass, ceramics, tiles, and lime that require high-temperature calcination, stone production does not require kiln furnaces, nor does it produce carbon dioxide, and the combined energy consumption of stone extraction and processing industries is only 0.3 tons of standard coal. Less than 1/10 of the kiln building materials, the lowest in all building materials. While continuing to increase the utilization rate of stone materials and added value, the local government can meet the requirements for low-carbon development if it can reasonably plan and improve supervision and guidance.
The key to the low-carbon development of Hubei stone is in the industrial layout
On the 18th, the National Development and Reform Commission confirmed the nation's low-carbon pilot provinces and autonomous regions, and our province is among them. In this context, what are the advantages of Hubei's stone industry in developing a low-carbon economy?
Wang Xiubing: The advantage of developing a low-carbon economy in the stone industry in Hubei lies in the layout strategy of the national stone industry. The key to the development lies in whether the industrial layout in the province can achieve a reasonable functional zoning.
China's economic development presents a layout from east to west. The stone industry has thus formed a unilateral pattern of “one vertical†for the coastal stone industry distribution centers in Guangdong Yunfu, Fujian Shuitou, Shandong Laiyang, and Tianjin. With the development of the western region and the implementation of the strategy for the rise of the central region, the central and western regions have their own industrial distribution centers and are increasingly becoming strategic requirements for industrial development.
Around the low-carbon development of the stone industry, two factors are the most important. One is resource endowment and the other is space location. Hubei has obvious advantages in these two aspects.
The proven reserves of stone resources in Hubei Province amount to several billion cubic meters. There are Macheng, the hometown of Chinese granite, and Tongshan, the hometown of Chinese marble. Although the stone industry in Hubei started relatively late, it basically keeps pace with the sustained and rapid development of the national economy.
Macheng, Jingshan and other places, in particular, have a relatively high starting point for industrial development, avoiding extensive development stages, and coupled with the reasonable guidance of local governments, the ecological cost of industrial development is relatively low. In terms of production, sales, resource development and utilization, they all maintained a good momentum of development.
In the cost of stone products, logistics cost is the most important part, and it is also the highest proportion of carbon emissions in the stone industry chain. While serving the construction of the Wuhan City Circle, Hubei Stone can also radiate the Midwest through railways and highways, and through the Yangtze River port waterway, it can strongly radiate downstream coastal cities such as Nanjing, Shanghai, and upstream Chongqing, and it can be sold overseas and exported to the world.
Therefore, how to adjust the industrial layout, rationalize the functional zoning, effectively take advantage of location, the economic potential of land and water transport, and reduce logistics costs are the most critical tasks for the realization of low-carbon development in the stone industry in Hubei, and also an effective means to enhance industrial competitiveness.
Relying on the market carrier, do a good job of industrial clustering articles
What do you think Hubei Stone has done to adjust its industrial layout and achieve a low-carbon development with reasonable functional zoning?
Wang Xiubing: Adjusting the industrial layout and rationalizing the functional zoning are actually articles on how to do a good job of industrial agglomeration. Although on the whole, Hubei's stone resources have obvious advantages in resource endowment and location, but they have not really formed a development trend with reasonable function layout and obvious industrial agglomeration.
From the province's point of view, whether it is Macheng, Tongshan, or Jingshan, Suizhou, the strategic positioning of the stone industry, can only be considered a local characteristic industry, far from the strategic height of provincial economic development.
It is not difficult to find that compared with Fujian's Shuitou and other stone distribution centers, our gap is very important, because we have not yet established a market carrier with complete functions and complete intensive elements to optimize resource combinations. Global World Stone City is based on the above understanding, it chose to enter the Hankou North professional market group.
Stone City will be built into the processing center with the strongest processing capability in Central China and become an industry-wide socialized public platform. It will give a brand-new definition of supporting services such as stone logistics, processing and finance, as well as waste water reuse, waste utilization, Dust control, noise control make proper arrangements.
Stone City is committed to making full use of the advantages of transportation and logistics, forming the largest stone distribution and distribution center in Wuhu Yangluo around Yangluo Port. This will combine the overall development of the industry with the regional economy, and enhance the proximity of industrial space. It will be very beneficial to reduce transaction costs and increase regional production efficiency and low carbon economy.
