Our factory has a six-axis vertical boring machine, which is driven by a flexible cylindrical pin coupling (Fig. 1). In use, due to the large cutting allowance, it is found that the elastic pin of the coupling is easily sheared and damaged, and needs to be replaced in about two months. If the ordinary type of cross-slider coupling is used, the strength and rigidity are increased, but the gearbox gear is easy to be toothed, and the flat key on the main shaft is cut. To this end, I designed a safety cross-slider coupling (see Figure 2) that works well when installed. The coupling characteristics are described below.
