Rational view of the radioactivity of ceramic tiles

Almost any substance is radioactive, and ceramic tiles are no exception. At the end of 2001, China promulgated and implemented the “Code for Indoor Environmental Pollution Control of Civil Building Engineering”, which targets “inorganic non-metallic building materials used in civil construction projects including sand, stone, cement, commercial concrete, prefabricated components and new wall materials; civil construction projects The use of inorganic non-metallic decoration materials, including stone, building sanitary ceramics, gypsum board, ceiling materials, etc., has introduced specific control specifications.

Consumers do not know much about the pollution of radioactive materials, and often talk about "radiation" discoloration. In fact, people themselves are in a natural radioactive environment. Not all radiation is harmful to the human body. As long as the radioactivity index of the product is within the national standard, radioactivity will not cause harm to the human body. Consumers do not have to hear it. “Titanium radioactivity” panics, not to mention alarmist.

The following is a description of the formation of radioactive ceramic tiles and the control of radioactive sources in the manufacture of ceramic tiles, so that consumers can view the reflective properties of ceramic tiles rationally.

1. Standards and indicators for radioactive detection of ceramic tiles:

The radiation of ceramic tiles to the human body mainly includes two aspects, internal illumination and external illumination. Internal irradiation (in vivo radiation) mainly refers to the radiation of cockroaches on the human body. æ°¡ is a kind of radioactive natural substance, colorless and odorless, easy to diffuse, soluble in water, and very soluble in fat. Radon is due to the decay of radium in its raw materials. External irradiation (external radiation) is the radiation generated by the radioactive elements radium, potassium and strontium contained in the tile itself, which acts directly on the human body.

The national standard GB6566-2010 "Limits of radionuclides for building materials" is divided into three categories according to the radioactive level of decorative materials, among which: Class A decoration materials:

The radioactive specific activity of radioactive nuclides ra-226, 钍-232, and potassium-40, internal index Ira and external index Ir should satisfy IRa ≤ 1.0 and Ir ≤ 1.3. The production, sales and use of Class A decoration materials are not restricted and there is no harm to the human body.

China not only has strict regulations on ceramic tiles in terms of standards, but also implements CCC (China Compulsory Product Certification) certification system. CCC certification requires that the radioactive indicators of porcelain bricks meet the requirements of Class A decoration and decoration materials, only through CCC. Certified porcelain tiles are allowed to be sold in the market.

At the same time, the State Environmental Protection Administration set up the “China Environmental Labeling Product Certification”, and the products meet the requirements of HJ/T 297-2006 “Technical Requirements for Environmental Labeling Products Ceramic Tiles” to obtain this honor. The radioactive indicators of ceramic bricks in this standard are: The index IRa≤0.9 and the external exposure index Ir≤1.2 are more stringent than the requirements of Class A decoration materials in GB6566-2010 “Limited Radionuclide Limits for Building Materials”.
