According to Voice of China’s “Yangguang News†report, Peru’s first eco-city will be built. The city named “Paragas Ecological Paradise†will use solar energy and wind energy as the main energy sources. Residents in the city will use biogas to cook meals. Vehicles cannot be used. Fossil fuels and so on. With regard to the original intention of the construction of the Paragas Ecological Park and its current progress, we are connecting with China Voices International News Editor Xing Shijia:
Moderator: Introduce how the initial idea of the Paragas Eco-Park project was created. How is the progress of the project now?
Editor: In fact, the original idea of the Paragas Ecological Park was in 2009, when the teachers and students of the Institute of Tourism of the University of St. Martin of Peru studied and studied in the Pisco region and drafted the initial plan of the project. This place is actually building an eco-city in the desert area near the city of Paragas in the province of Ica, called the Paragas Ecological Park. Their plans say that this city will use solar energy and wind energy as the main energy source. No vehicles in the city can use fossil fuels. According to the plan, the "Paragas Ecological Paradise" will be divided into three regions: agriculture and animal husbandry areas, residential living areas, and ecological villa areas for visitors to stay temporarily. Local agriculture is mainly planted with grapes, peppers, jasmine, olives, asparagus, etc. Therefore, they will give priority to the development of “Pisco†wine brewing industry. All crops are not allowed to use chemical fertilizers and pesticides to ensure that the products produced are green foods. Livestock husbandry is dominated by chickens, ducks, sheep and cattle. Green stocking is adopted, and a horse farm opened to tourists is also set up.
At the same time, for the earthquake-prone Peru, the plan also mentions that it will be designed to have a round shape of the housing of the residents, and to adopt earthquake prevention technology. This project was originally planned to break ground on January 5 this year and be completed in 2014. It is estimated that the investment needed is about 170 million U.S. dollars, and the Paragas Eco-city Association currently hopes to apply for assistance from some international organizations.
