On September 6th, Indian media reported that Oman and India intend to further expand bilateral trade and investment partnerships. Muscat Corporation of Oman decided to invest 3 billion U.S. dollars to restore India's fertilizer industry. This resolution was made at the 6th meeting of India-Arab Joint Economic and Trade Committee held in Afghanistan. The meeting was co-chaired by Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma and Oman Minister of Commerce and Industry Markup.
The report stated that at the meeting, the two sides decided to strengthen cooperation and exchanges in various fields such as agriculture, aviation, ports, railways, transportation, and energy (including atomic energy). The meeting decided to expand the size of the joint investment fund that was established by both parties in November 2008, which will be expanded from the original capital of 100 million U.S. dollars to 1.5 billion U.S. dollars.
The two sides also decided to establish a high-level working group to implement the spirit of the relevant conference.
