New progress in high-efficiency precision cutting technology in China's shipbuilding industry

“Fast Shipbuilding” and “Precision Shipbuilding” are now the goals pursued by the industry. Therefore, how to achieve efficient and precise cutting in ship construction has become a hot spot. To this end, related equipment manufacturers have also seen this trend, speeding up the pace of launching new technologies and new equipment. According to the actual production use, from the feedback collected by the author, the application situation is good, and the expected effect is significant.


First of all, the superiority of using fine plasma cutting technology has been widely accepted by domestic shipyards. Now users are often the first choice for fine plasma cutting machines when adding new plasma cutting machines. Among them, in addition to so many years of practice, the user's cognitive ability will be improved, and the key role of technological progress should be seen. Take the US HYPERTHERM product as an example. At present, the series of fine plasma power supply series includes four products with cutting currents of 130A, 260A, 400A and 800A respectively. The applicable range is much higher than that of previous years. The improvement of fine plasma cutting current realizes the long-term high-precision and high-speed cutting, and the desire to cut thick plates with high precision. In addition, based on the original long-life technology of oxygen, it also adopts new inventions such as strong perforated protective caps. Further extending the life of the torch consumables, the fine plasma cutting in high-efficiency precision cutting while reducing operating costs, thus pushing the fine plasma cutting technology to a greater step to meet the production needs.


Of course, when it comes to precision cutting technology, it is impossible to mention laser cutting. The discussion about laser cutting technology used in Chinese shipyards has been around for a long time, but the actual progress is far from satisfactory. In recent years, although a few shipyards in China have introduced the world's advanced "CO2" laser cutting machine under the efforts of all parties, they have comprehensively considered the technical level and economic cost of our shipyards. It will take time to get popular, at least at this stage, the advantages of fine plasma in the cutting efficiency of plate are much more obvious. In the past two years, fiber lasers have developed rapidly, with excellent beam quality, high electro-optic conversion efficiency, small volume under the same power, good optical flexibility, and almost maintenance-free high power at high power. The combined advantages of reliability and the like have already challenged traditional (CO2) laser cutting.


According to the information at hand, with the continuous improvement of the effect of fiber laser cutting in the processing of thick plates, many domestic manufacturers of cutting equipment have entered or are preparing to develop the CNC laser cutting machine with fiber laser. Let us wait and see, and hope that this will further enhance the day of efficient cutting technology in China's shipbuilding industry.
