The magnetic starter consists of a steel stamped enclosure, a steel backplane, an AC contactor, a thermal relay, and corresponding wiring. When used, it should be equipped with a start stop button switch and be connected correctly to the manual signal cable. When the start button is pressed, the AC contactor coil built in the magnetic starter is energized, the armature drives the contact group to close, and the power supply (generally a motor) is turned on, and is self-locked through the auxiliary contact. When the stop button is pressed, the internal AC contactor coil is de-energized and the contacts are opened, and the power supply is cut off and unlocked. 
According to different control requirements, the magnetic starter can also be flexibly wired to enable it to perform jog and change functions. The built-in thermal relay provides overload protection of the controlled motor, and the thermal relay setting current should meet the motor power requirement.
The magnetic starter is a full-voltage direct start and is used in both the grid capacity and the load allowing direct start of full pressure. The advantages are easy to operate and control, easy to maintain, and more economical. It is mainly used for starting small-power motors. Motors larger than 11kw are not suitable for this method.
The main technical feature is that the main contacts of each two contactors are connected in series to access the main circuit, and the attraction coils are connected in parallel to the control circuit. This kind of magnetic starter can be used in some production occasions where the motor is not stopped in time after the stop button is pressed, which may cause accidents.
