Japan's aluminum shipments decreased 8.5% year-on-year in March 2011

Japan's aluminum shipments in March decreased by 8.5% year-on-year to 170,878 tons

According to information from Tokyo on April 27, industry data released on Wednesday showed that shipments of aluminum products in Japan decreased by 8.5% to 170,878 tons in March from the same period last year. This was the first time in 16 months to decrease year-on-year due to the interruption or shortage of power supply following the major earthquake and tsunami in the northeastern part of the country on March 11th. Manufacturers cut output and led to weak demand.

Japan Aluminum Association (Japan Aluminum Association) data show that March shipments increased 1.7% compared with February.
