Hardware Tips: Summary of Screen Printing Features

Part of the hole of the screen printing plate can pass through the ink and leak to the substrate; the mesh of the rest of the printing plate is blocked, the ink cannot pass through, and a blank is formed on the substrate, and the wire mesh is used as a support body. The screen is stretched on the frame, and then the photoresist is coated on the net to form a photosensitive plate, and then the positive plate is adhered to the plate, and exposed, developed, and the portion of the plate that does not need to be inked. The cured plate is formed by light, the mesh is sealed, and the ink is not transparent during printing. The mesh of the portion of the printing plate that needs to pass the ink is not closed, and the ink is transmitted during printing to form a black mark on the substrate. The silk screen ink layer is thicker and the color performance is poor. If you want better results, you can increase the mesh size by at least 300 mesh/inch. There is generally no requirement for production, and quality can be met, unlike high-grade offset or embossing.

Screen printing features:

1. Not limited by the size and shape of the substrate. Generally, printing can only be carried out on a flat surface, and silk screen printing can not only print on a flat surface, but also print on a shape and a concave surface of a special shape, and can also print various super large advertisements, drapes, curtains.

2. The layout is soft and the printing pressure is small. The screen printing plate is soft and flexible, and the printing pressure is small, so it can be printed not only on soft substrates such as paper and textiles, but also on glass and ceramic vessels which are easily damaged by pressure.

3. The ink layer has a strong covering power. Screen printing inks can be as thick as 30 to 100 μm. Therefore, the ink has a particularly strong hiding power and can be printed on pure black paper. The screen printing ink layer is thick, and the printed graphic has a strong three-dimensional effect, which is unmatched by other printing methods.

4. Suitable for all types of inks. The wide range of inks used in silk screen printing has exceeded the definition of conventional inks. In fact, there are pastes, plastics, paints, adhesives or solid powders. Therefore, screen printing inks are sometimes referred to as "printing materials".

5. Strong light resistance. The general classification of inks should be divided into printing patterns, namely, letterpress ink, lithographic ink, gravure ink and filtered ink. However, such a classification is too principled and cannot express all the realities. In recent years, due to the increasing number of inks, new types of colors have appeared continuously, and only by type, there are limitations.

In addition to sorting by type, it is generally classified in a dry type. Such as oxidative drying ink, osmosis drying ink, volatile drying ink, solidification drying ink and the like.

Also classified by product use. Such as book ink, printing iron ink, glass ink, plastic ink and so on. It is also classified by product characteristics. Such as security inks, bright inks, photosensitive inks, transparent inks, electrostatic inks, etc. It is also often heard of alcohol (soluble) inks, water (soluble) inks, which are called a name that reflects their characteristics.
