China resorts to WTO for anti-dumping and zeroing of American diamond saw blades

GENEVA, October 25 (Reuters) - China filed a lawsuit against the World Trade Organization (WTO) on Tuesday accusing the United States of improperly adopting anti-dumping measures against diamond saw blades and frozen warm water shrimp imported from China. The United States imposed high anti-dumping duties on the above-mentioned products exported from China to the United States, saying that the prices of these products were artificially depressed, suppressing US competitors. In this case, China sued the US for adopting a “return to zero” approach. “Return to zero” is a way to estimate the losses caused by dumping and violate the WTO rules. If the United States loses in this case, more countries may resort to the WTO on its anti-dumping measures. In addition to China, the United States has imposed anti-dumping duties on shrimp products exported to Brazil, India, Thailand and Vietnam.
